Make the Most of this Weekend in the Bay Area Suburbs

June is a fantastic time of year in the Bay Area suburbs and the weekend is just around the corner. You know what that means—NOW is an excellent time to head out to the suburbs, see what it’s like to be a local AND have tons of family fun.

Larkspur

Bring your lawn chairs and blankets to Piper Park in Larkspur on Friday for Music in the Park from 6-8pm. The event is free, and Pigs in the Pickle will be on site dishing up their famous BBQ. The Marin Pride Picnic is in the same spot on Saturday from 12-3pm.

 

Lafayette

Woodstock turns 50 this year! Help Lafayette celebrate by coming out for free concerts every Friday in June. Local bands will be playing songs from the music festival’s original lineup from 6-8:30 pm in Lafayette Plaza Park.

 

Orinda

You can’t go wrong with good food and good people, right? Get to Orinda firsthand during the Thursday Night Food Truck Feast from 5-8pm at the Orinda Community Center.

 

Oakland

Oakland has a unique, vibrant community—and you can see it firsthand Saturday from 11am-8pm during Lake Fest Oakland. The event is free includes a kids area with games and rise, a biergarten, food vendors and more.

 

Piedmont

Hear covers of your favorite songs from Old Crow Medicine Show, the Rolling Stones and other bluegrass legends at Heather Farm on Thursday starting at 7pm. Tickets are $20; children 12 and under are free.

 

Burlingame

Support the local SPCA at West Washington Park from 2-5pm on Saturday during Bark n’ Brewfest. Pups are welcome and a wide variety of food trucks, local brewers and artisan winemakers will be handing out samples of their products.

 

San Mateo

Families are invited to Coyote Point Park for the 5K/10K & BrewFest on Sunday, starting at 11am. There will be a bunch of local food trucks, breweries, live music and games on the lawn so plan to stay for the afternoon.

 

Los Altos

The Peninsula Symphony will be at Grant Park on Saturday for a free concert beginning at 6:30pm. Don’t forget your blankets, chairs and snacks!
