Glen Ellyn

If you haven’t ever built a cardboard boat before, NOW is the time! Craft your creation and bring it to Lake Ellyn Park at 10am on Saturday for the Cardboard Regatta. Minnow races will be available for $1 each.

Interested in Eastern medicine and holistic health? Grab the family and head to Naperville from 11am-6pm on Sunday for Illuminate Chicago. The venue will be filled with holistic-focused vendors, practitioners, min-sessions on various modalities and gift stalls.

Arlington Heights

Comedy shows, faux Medieval rides, live kids’ concerts, petting zoo and fun and games for the family make the Renaissance Faire a can’t-miss event for Chicago-area families! Family day is Sunday. Gates open at noon; online tickets are $8 for adults and $4 for kids.

Deerfield has an awesome pool, and everyone is welcome for this fun community event—a movie by the pool. The film begins at dusk and rafts or floats are welcome. Admission is $3 per person.

Highland Park

Highland Park’s Ravinia Festival continues this weekend, with Little Big Town on Friday, Counting Crows on Saturday and Sugarland on Sunday, among tons of other performances. The Firecracker 5k & 2 Mile Walk is also taking place locally at 8am on Sunday morning.

Tower Road Beach is hands down one of the best things about living in Winnetka! It’s fun any day of the week, but especially so during Tidal Wave Thursdays. Visit from 6pm-8pm and be prepared to groove to a live DJ, hit the giant inflatable water slide and play family-friendly games.

Lake Forest

Enjoying a quiet summer evening this Thursday? Head over to Lake Forest for a free summer concert from 6:30pm-8:30pm. Food vendors will be on-site, but chairs and additional food items are welcome.

Live music, local beer, kids activities, awesome deals—these are just a few of the attractions you’ll find at Glenview’s Summer Fest, Saturday 9am-3:30pm.
