A great way to decide where to call “home?” Living like a local by jumping in on area events and activities. Here, you’ll mix, mingle and meet your could-be neighbors, and get a sense for the community. Really, what could be better? Check out this list to get started.

Winnetka

Watch a free concert at Hubbard Woods Playground from 6pm-8:30pm on Wednesday. 

 

Barrington

There’s a Labor Day Weekend Craft Fair at The Arboretum on Saturday from 10am-9pm and Sunday from 11am-6pm.

Lake Forest

Dozens of artists will be at Art on the Square Sunday-Monday from 10am-5pm, featuring ceramics, digital media, glass and more.

 

Highland Park

Families love Food Truck Thursdays at the Raviana District on Thursday from 6pm-8pm. There will also be live music and lawn games.

 

Brookfield

Brookfield Zoo is hosting a Brick Safari, complete with 40+ life-size animal sculptures swimming, stampeding and flying around all weekend long. 

 

Frankfort
Head to Downtown Frankfort for the Frankfort Fall Festival. This annual event features artisans, live entertainment, a carnival and a parade starting at 1pm Monday.  

 

Naperville

Celebrate the end of summer during Naperville’s Last Fling Friday-Monday. There will be 4 days of live music, a carnival and tons of family fun.

 

Glencoe

The Chicago Botanic Garden’s Butterflies and Blooms event ends Monday—come out from 10am-5pm to interact with hundreds of butterflies from around the world.

 

Glen Ellyn

Visit Graue Mill for a Civil War encampment on Saturday and Sunday at 10:30am and 4pm. Kids will love demos on cooking, crafts and toys.

 

Deerfield

Visit Deerfield Area Historical Society’s 19th-century Prairie Village this weekend. There’s a historic schoolhouse, 1900 kitchen and plenty to see and do.

 

Glenview

Enjoy the great outdoors with the Kohl Children’s Museum’s Nature Cat and his friends on Friday or Saturday. Take selfies, explore bioluminescent organisms and play with interactive exhibits.
