There’s so much happening in the Boston suburbs this weekend including these events, ideal for all ages. Better still, these seasonal activities are perfect ways to get out and explore the Boston suburbs like a true local so you can start refining your town list.

South Natick

Go apple-picking at Lookout Farm, then explore the grounds to take advantage of train rides, face painting, a petting zoo, inflatables and playground. The farm is open from 10am-5pm

 

 

Medfield

Visit the Medfield Public Library from 11am-4pm to enjoy activities for ages 3 and up, including LEGOs, crafts and games.

 

 

Milton

Wakefield Estate’s Blue Hills Octoberfest is 2pm-5pm on Sunday. Come out for live music, German fare, kids activities, farm animals, games and more. Tickets are $20; kids are free.

 

Dedham

Visit Dedham Community House for the free Fall Fair & Pumpkin Fest beginning at 11am on Sunday. Families will enjoy carnival games, face painting, pony rides and other attractions.

 

 

Concord

Verrill Farm and Saltbox Farm are both hosting harvest festivals from 11am-3pm and 11am-4pm, respectively, on Saturday. Verrill’s event includes pumpkin picking, hayrides, pony rides and other festivities, while Saltbox’s features live music, lawn games and food. There’s no wrong choice! 

 

 

Acton

Sunday is the last day of the Discovery Museum’s caterpillar exhibit. Come out for hands-on experiences with live caterpillars, or head to Family Yoga! at Revolution Community Yoga from 1pm-2pm.

 

 

Hingham

Derby Academy in Hingham is hosting a fall fair on Saturday from 11am-4pm. The fair includes arts, crafts, rides, games and a petting zoo. The following day, join a family meetup and play session at Hersey Field to meet other families and learn more about the area. 

 

 

Lexington

Wilson Farm is bursting with fall fun. Stop by from 8am-7pm for children’s farm tours, playtime with farmyard animals, haunted gingerbread house decorating and a hay maze.

 

 

Arlington

Old Schwamb Mill’s Oktoberfest celebration is from 12pm-4pm on Saturday. In addition to German cuisine, there will be a scavenger hunt, crafts and other activities for kids.

 

 

Marblehead

There’s a children’s fall fair in Marblehead at the Hamond Nature Center from 10am-1pm on Sunday. Enjoy guided nature walks and activities for kids 10 and under.
