Summer is in full swing in the Boston suburbs, and there is so much for families to do — not to mention, these local events are a great wait to scout out suburbs you may want to call “home.” Start with this weekend roundup below. Looking for activities and events in other towns? Get in touch! 

 

Needham

The Needham Carnival is open Thursday through Sunday at Needham High. Enjoy classic carnival rides and games and, of course, your favorite carnival food.

 

Concord

HELP! — a Beatles tribute band — is hosting a free outdoor concert at the Harvey Wheeler Community Center from 6:30pm-8:30pm. Don’t forget your blankets and snacks!

 

Weston

Thursday is Family Farm Night at Land’s Sake Farm in Weston. Bring blankets and a hungry tummy to this free family-fun event from 5pm-7pm. On Saturday, compete in an all ages-talent contest at Memorial Pool.

 

Hingham

Visit the South Shore Conservatory for a night of Winter, Summer and Ragtime! music with the Evenings Under the Stars Orchestra. Tickets are $22.50-$45, and the event begins at 7pm. 

 

Cohasset

On Thursday, swing by the Cohasset Farmers Market from 2pm-6pm for live music, local produce and artisanal goods. Then, check out the Levitate Music and Arts Festival on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, featuring Sublime with Rome, Tedeschi Trucks Band and other artists. Tickets are required. 

 

Lexington

Lexington is hosting a free summer concert featuring the 215th Army Band from 6:30pm-8:30pm on Friday. Blankets, chairs and snacks are welcome.

 

Arlington

Meet local families and enjoy outdoor games for kids during a free community potluck Saturday from 10am-2pm at Menotomy Rocks Park. On Sunday, bring a picnic dinner to North Union Spray Park for a free kids concert, face painting and climate change education.

 

Melrose

The Melrose Farmers’ Market is Thursday from 2pm-7pm and this week is “Family Day!” Discover amazing produce from Massachusetts farmers plus amazing meats and cheese as well as family-fun activities at Bowden Park.
