It feels like the kids are barely out of school and, already, it’s time for camp, July 4th and the city clearing OUT. And that combination makes it the perfect time to explore the DC suburbs. Gaithersburg 

Celebrate the 4th of July early during Gaithersburg’s SummerFest! Visit Bohrer Park at Summit Hill Farm farm 5pm-11:30pm for live music, food and fireworks.

 

Arlington

It’s ALL about kids Friday morning at Market Common Clarendon. Stop by from 10:30am-11:15 for a free Tracey Eldridge concert.

 

Alexandria

The Old Town Arts & Crafts Fair is Thursday 10am-6pm at Alexandria’s Waterfront Park. The event is free, and will feature food trucks, activities for kids and a variety of crafts from 10am-6pm.

 

Vienna

Layton’s Chance Vineyard And Winery in Vienna hosts family-friendly every Friday evening. Enjoy 14 acres of pristine vineyards, outdoor games, nature trails, happy hour and live music.

 

Georgetown

Kick off Saturday with a free yoga session at Georgetown Waterfront Park at 9:30am. After you’re all stretched and relaxed, check out the Washington National Cathedral where the family-friendly Journey Festival 2019 is taking place. 

 

Rockville, MD

Pick up local produce, pastries, coffee and cheese from 9am-1pm1 during the Rockville Farmers Market! It takes place at Jury Lot off of Monroe Street. 

 

Silver Spring, MD

Revel in Caribbean music, art, cultural performances and food during the Carbbiean Heritage Festival, Sunday from 1pm-7pm at the Silver Spring Civic Building. Tickets are $15-$22.

 

Fairfax, VA

George Washington’s Mount Vernon annual Independence Day celebration is Friday. There’s something for everyone at George Washington’s famous estate, including tours and fireworks promptly at 9:30am.
