Check Out These Weekend Events in the Boston Suburbs!

June is a fantastic time of year in the Boston suburbs and the weekend is just around the corner. You know what that means—NOW is an excellent time to head out to the suburbs, see what it’s like to be a local AND have tons of family fun.

Food Truck Friday is Friday at 4pm, featuring local favorites like Trolley Dogs and the Chicken and Rice Guys, live music, hands-on experiences with trucks and big rigs and kids’ games. The event is at Driscoll School Field and Playground.



Stroll the charming streets of Newton on Saturday and swing by the public library at 2pm for a free showing of “How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World.” No registration is required.



Calling all nature enthusiasts: The Gardens at Elm Bank have special events for children at Weezie’s Garden every Friday,  Saturday and Sunday from 11-11:30am. Programs are free with admission.



Celebrate the summer solstice with a free story and crafts at the Medfield Public Library Friday from 4:30-5:30pm. Ages 4 and up are welcome. No registration is required.



It’s a fun-filled weekend in Milton—the town’s music fest and Independence Day fireworks are Saturday at 4pm, followed by Celtic Sunday beginning at 1pm. Enjoy tons of amazing music,  crafts, a GIANT slide, Clydesdales and more.



Start summer (and your visit to Westwood) off on the right foot with University Station’s Block Party Saturday from 11am-1pm. Everyone is welcome to this free event, which also includes face painting, live music, crafts and treats.



Riverfest 2019 is taking place in Lowell, Framingham and tons of places in-between on Saturday and Sunday. Come for 40+ activities scheduled in the area. Visit Sudbury’s Great Meadows Wildlife Refuge Saturday for fishing, crafts and hot dogs.



One of Acton’s hidden treasures, Idylwilde Farm, is celebrating its 50th birthday Saturday and Sunday. Visit the farm from 12-5pm for beer and wine demonstrations, kids activities, a pig roast and more.



It’s Family Fun in the Sun at Memorial Pool in Weston on Saturday from 1-2:30pm. There were be a sandcastle building contest, rubber ducky races and hula hooping.
