Live like a local all weekend long in these amazing Chicago suburbs


Spend the weekend exploring the Chicago suburbs like a true local, at these community events and activities!



Get a jump start on your holiday shopping by visiting Walk On’s Holiday Market from 1pm-4pm on Sunday. The market will feature local vendors, food and a cash bar.




Get ready for Lightscape at the Chicago Botanic Garden. This exciting winter event kicks off next weekend and is one of the most popular seasonal must-sees in the area. Come wander the mile-long path back with singing trees, a beautiful waterfall of lights and more.




Pete the Cat is coming to the DuPage Children’s Museum from 7:30am-9am on Saturday. Come out for storytime, photo ops and to explore the museum’s exhibits after. Museum admission is required. Or, learn about great horned owls at Knoch Knolls Park from 5pm-6:30pm on Saturday. Tickets are $12 for non-residents.



Glen Ellyn

Meet Anna and Elsa at the Glen Ellyn Public Library at 10:30am on Saturday. Kids can enjoy story time and photo ops with their favorite Frozen characters.



Highland Park

WeOrbit, an indoor play space in Highland Park, has play areas for infants, toddlers and children—and it’s the perfect place to spend time as a family this weekend. It has free WiFi and coffee and is open from 8:30am-12:30pm on the weekend. Admission is $14 for your first child and $8 for each additional child.




Get tickets to “Madagascar – A Musical Adventure,” playing at the Marriott Theatre Lincolnshire at 11am on Friday and Saturday. Tickets are $32.




Deerfield Family Theater is performing “Annie” at Caruso Middle at 7:30pm on Friday and Saturday or 2pm on Sunday. Tickets are $22.




Learn about owls, beloved residents of Northbrook, by visiting the River Trail Nature Center at 1:30pm on Sunday. It’s free.




Celebrate winter at the Frozen Fantasy Fest at North Shore Dance & Theater in Glenview from 5pm-7pm on Saturday. Tickets are $30 for families and include a visit with Anna and Elsa, crafts, games, selfies and other winter wonderland attractions.
