WEEKLY ROUND UP: Rents are up and there’s lots to do in the ‘burbs

Dec 13, 2013

We’re well into December now—did you see all the snow this week? That’s the sure sign the cold weather is here…and here to stay! We’re enjoying these last few weeks of 2013, and reflecting on what a great year it’s been and, of course, all the things we’re excited about in 2014. And the list keeps getting longer and longer!

Despite all of the holiday goings on, it’s been a busy week for real estate. CoreLogic reports that more and more prospective homeowners continue to rent, now topping 35% of all U.S. households—and rent affordability is at an all-time low. Is now the time to stop renting and look to buy?

Suburban Jungle president Ali Bernstein has been there—and she talks to Weschester Magazine about how her personal experiences house hunting, moving and moving AGAIN led to the launch of the agency. Not only does she get up close and personal, but she sheds some light on what clients can expect and what “exploring towns” really involves. Are YOU exploring this weekend? Here are a few can’t-miss events in the ‘burbs—hope to see you there!

Santa is taking a break from all the hustle and bustle and heading to the Great Train Exhibit at the Wilton Historical Society this Saturday beginning at 12:00pm. He’ll peruse the exhibit, share some laughs and will even decorate gingerbread houses with young attendees!

·The Huntington Choral Society is presenting “American Reflections: The Winter Solstice at Huntington High School this Saturday. Adults are $20 and students are free. Don’t miss out on the amazing seasonal music!

Happy weekend!
