Our Larchmont Local Ali Siotkas Gives the Lowdown on Schools, Social Life, and More

Top Schools in Larchmont, Social Life in Larchmont

Between growing up in Larchmont, teaching at one of the elementary schools, and raising three kids in town, Ali Siotkas has tons of insider tips to share.

Suburban Jungle Local Ali Siotkas and her husband were living in the city but knew it wasn’t a long-term plan.

“We’re both educators and we weren’t saving any money being in the city. We knew we wanted to leave at some point,” Ali says.

While they determined what next, the couple headed to Larchmont — her hometown — and lived with her parents. During that time they searched Westchester County and parts of Connecticut, trying to find the perfect place to call “home.”

“We just didn’t find what Larchmont has anywhere else,” Ali explains. “So we decided to buy a house here.” That was nearly eight years ago, she says, and they’ve never looked back.

Loving the Larchmont Lifestyle

Even though Ali had lived in Larchmont most of her life now, raising a family here, she’s seeing the community through fresh eyes.

“Larchmont is a great place to be,” she says. “It’s a blend of working moms and stay-at-home moms, lots of activities and things to do. All around it was exactly what we wanted and we kept coming back to Larchmont.”

They also loved the walkability of Larchmont.

“We weren’t completely ready to give up that city walkability,” Ali says. “And Larchmont had so much, all within walking distance. It’s perfect for people like us who aren’t quite ready to give up all of those city perks. And as soon as it hits 50 degrees, everyone’s out — walking, biking, eating outside.”

And when they want to head into the city, for work or for fun? They’re just 30 minutes away. But, with so much to do — kids sports, country clubs, beaches, parks, and more — why leave?

“There’s Manor Beach which is only for residents and is much more affordable,” she says. “The Larchmont Newcomers Society also plans tons of events like book clubs, poker games, and trivia nights.”

Helping Other Families Land in Larchmont

Now a Larchmont Local for Suburban Jungle, Ali connects with families considering her community — and when she does, she’s all about giving the inside scoop. Many people especially want to talk about Larchmont’s four schools, which Ali knows well — she grew up going to one, her kids go to one, and she teaches at another.

“When I talk to people, I love to really dig in and give them a glimpse of what life is like,” she says. “I know what a big decision this is, and I want to make sure people have the information they need.”
