Horseback riding is a very popular pastime for kids and adults. But if your passion goes beyond an occasional weekend and into more competitive riding, you likely want to be near a local stable – and these towns have that, and more. We’ve rounded up a few top towns for equestrians.
Westchester County
Whether you’re new in the saddle or have been riding for years, Boulder Brook Equestrian Center offers lessons and training programs for all ages and skill levels in the largest indoor ring in Westchester County.
This full-service facility in Scarsdale has been a fixture in the local equestrian community for more than 90 years. During the summer, Boulder Brook offers popular week-long Riding Camps that include daily riding instruction as well as lessons in horse care and stable management. They even host birthday parties complete with pony rides for young riders.

Be a part of equestrian history at Mead Farm, one of the oldest stables in Stamford. This stunning farm includes 170 miles of continuous horseback riding trails that weave through Stamford and nearby Greenwich. This historic farm offers summer camps, birthday parties, and private and group lessons for riders of all abilities.

New Jersey
Somerset County may be considered New Jersey Horse Country, but just across the county line in historic Morristown is one of our favorite stables, Seaton Hackney. This family-owned riding facility offers it all: private, semi- and group lessons, troop programs, a Petite Equestrian Program (PEP) for younger children, trail rides, badge programs, pony rides, birthday parties, equestrian summer camp, and much more.
