Plus between the artisanal baked goods, live music, and kids’ activities, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.

#1. Pike & Rose (North Bethesda, MD)

Since 2011, this market has brought farm-fresh produce to Bethesda residents. You’ll find this market in the REI parking lot on Saturday mornings from April to November. Check the website for a sneak peek at each week’s vendors and you can even preorder from some farm stands, including popular Metro Microgreens and Toigo Orchards.

Not only is the local food second-to-none, but the market plays host to a number of events throughout the year, from live music to wine tastings to kids club activities and more. As a bonus, there’s even free two-hour parking at the nearby Pike & Rose garages.

If you’re still in the mood to shop post-market you’re close to the retail center packed with stores and restaurants. Bringing your furry friend? You’ll want to check out Bark Social, a unique dog park-beer garden hybrid.

#2. Bethesda Elementary (Bethesda, MD)

Can’t make it to the Saturday market — or just need an extra stock-up? Check out the other local market at Bethesda Central Farm Market. This bustling market happens every Sunday in the school parking lot and features over 100 different vendors throughout the year selling everything from handmade pasta and artisan salsa, to homemade nut milk, farm-raised beef and, of course, tons of fresh produce.

Looking to make a day out of your trip to the market? Enjoy a family breakfast at The Original Pancake House or Tatte Bakery & Cafe before wandering around the market. There are also tons of playgrounds in the area, like Caroline Freeland Urban Park and Battery Lane Urban Park, ideal for kids of all ages.

#3. Kensington Farmers Market (Kensington, MD)

The Kensington Farmers Market is held year-round on Sunday mornings. The market itself is very close to the Kensington train station so it’s easy for city families to hop over.

At this market, you’ll find local brews from Waredaca Brewery, from-scratch baked goods at Great Harvest Bread Co. and seemingly endless seasonal produce and artisanal cheeses.

There’s also plenty to do close to the market, so it’s easy to keep exploring Kensington. Check out the shops at the nearby Kensington Antique Row or grab coffee at Java Nation. Active families will want to make their way to Ken-Gar Palisades Park where you can connect to the Rock Creek Hiker-Biker Trail.
