Kick off the summer AND explore the Bay Area suburbs at this Memorial Day Weekend events!

No matter where you are in your suburban search, Memorial Day weekend is a great time to get out and explore the Bay Area suburbs. Why? Because people love kicking off summer—and these events, parades and community experiences are a great way to do just that.

And besides, once school lets out and summer starts, towns start to look a lot different—kids head to camp, families start vacationing and people spread out to the beaches, pools and clubs dotting the ‘burbs. Get out now, get a good sense of these amazing communities, then get ready to start exploring the suburbs like a pro. Here’s where our locals will be heading this Memorial Day weekend…

 

 

Berkeley

Check out the Downtown Berkeley Brunch Tour on Sunday from 11am to 2pm. Or, head to the Tilden Nature Area on Canon Drive for an exclusive open house.

 

Concord

The Bay Area KidsFest 2019 is this Saturday, Sunday and Monday at Mount Diablo High School in Concord. Check out live entertainment, activities, sports and other kid-friendly activities designed to stimulate learning.

 

Hillsborough

This very popular Memorial Day parade is happening on Monday. Enjoy music, rides, food and more, all kicking off from North School.

Livermore

The 47th Annual Art in the Vineyards is Sunday and Monday at Wente Vineyards & Estate. Tastings are $20-$25 and include an opportunity to stroll through art installations by some of the area’s best artists.

 

Mill Valley

This local parade kicks off from Lytton Square at 10:30am on Monday. More than 60 groups will participate, ending at Tamalpais High School. Also happening this weekend: the Kiddo Carnival, starting Friday and running through Monday. This four-day carnival features rides, food, games and more.


Mt. Tamalpais
On Sunday, check out Grease presented by the Mountain Play Association. The show starts at 2pm at the Cushing Memorial Amphitheater.

 

Napa

While it’s a bit outside of the suburban circle, this is a GREAT event that draws residents from San Francisco, the suburbs and beyond. BottleRock Napa Valley returns all weekend long with headliners including Imagine Dragons, Neil Young, Mumford & Sons and Santana.

 

Oakland

The Oakland As face off against the Los Angeles Angeles on Monday at 12:07pm.

 

San Carlos

On Monday, head to Domenico Winery for their 18th Annual Pig Roast, featuring live music by South City Blues Band.

 

San Ramon

The annual San Ramon Art, Wind & Kite Festival returns this Sunday and Monday at San Ramon Central Park. Check out national kite-flying champions and demos, plus kite making workshops, hot air balloons and more.

 

Tiburon

Check out Friday Nights on Main this Friday from 6pm to 9pm in Downtown Tiburon. This family-friendly event features live music and dancing on Main Street plus shopping, food and more.
