The drink menu rotates – don’t miss the Iced London Fog Latte (this drink uses a variety of teas).
#2. Scarsdale
Just 20 miles from Midtown, Scarsdale is known for its top-rated schools, quick commute, and destination downtown filled with local shops, boutiques, and more. Also buzzed about is its coffee shop scene.
While touring Scarsdale, grab a latte and chocolate croissant at the Omni Caffe or stop into Martine’s Fine Bake Shoppe for a coffee and homemade babka. If the weather is good, take your cup of choice to Apiary at the Scarsdale Public Library where you can read, sip, and take it all in.
#3. Rye
Rye has it all – beaches, an easy commute, access to just about everything – and a city-level coffee scene that ensures you find your new favorite (or favorites) fast. While you’re here, swing by Poppy’s Cafe, a family-friendly coffee shop in the heart of Rye. We also love Sunshine Coffee Roasters and can’t resist their bagels, croissants, and iced coffee.
#4. Rye Brook
For those craving suburban life but not quite ready to give up amenities, Rye Brook is a must-see. The town offers amazing community activities, making it a fun and vibrant place to live! Its easy access to NYC ensures you enjoy suburban tranquility without missing out on city life.
And, of course, coffee is no exception. For coffee and smoothies, locals love Green & Tonic and for coffee, bagels, and breakfast sandwiches, there’s Lenny’s Bagels. We recommend snagging a sip at each (or trying one of the other coffee shops in town) and deciding for yourself.
#5. Ossining
Ossining is a cultural hub on the Hudson River, known to Mad Man fans as the home of the Drapers. But that’s just a taste – Ossining has an active arts and cultural scene and is home to several award-winning restaurants and cafes. If you’re looking for some seriously good coffee, don’t miss First Village Coffee for top-notch specialty drinks and local art. Another pick? Frytanga Cafe which serves us Colombian coffee and empanadas. We’re also loving Here Coffee + Beer which has great coffee (and equally great live music) on the menu.
#6. Armonk
A little bit rural, a little bit ‘burbs, with an upscale downtown, Armonk has long been popular with city transplants – and their coffee scene has kept pace. Here, locals head to Tazza Cafe for fresh, roasted coffee and frozen hot chocolate. And if that’s not their go-to, chances are it’s because they’re loyal to The Bagel Emporium right across the street. This frequent “Best of Westchester” award winner is a perfect stop over for not just hot and iced coffee but for bagels, sandwiches, wraps, and more.. Another go-to for NYC transplants: Bluestone Lane which serves flat whites and avocado toast, like its sister shops in the city.
#7. Pleasantville and Croton-on-Hudson
These two Westchester towns are about 20 minutes apart and draw lots of city dwellers looking for life in suburbia. But while these communities have unique personalities, they both have an outstanding coffee culture. For starters, both towns are home to The Black Cow. This cafe started in Croton-on-Hudson in 1995 and later expanded to Pleasantville. Also popular: Croton-on-Hudson’s weekend-only cafe, Little Star Pastry, a can’t-miss spot for made-from-scratch baked goods and great coffee.
#8. Chappaqua
Chappaqua has a quaint downtown, hundreds of acres of green space and a strong sense of community. Decide to call Chappaqua “home” and you’ll have plenty to do, including epic community events like the annual Strawberry Festival.
Also epic? The coffee shop and cafe scene. Residents get their fix at top spots including The Bagel Emporium, Green & Tonic, or Bobo’s Cafe, conveniently located in the Chappaqua train station. This prime spot makes it easier for commuters to grab a coffee on their way into the city during the morning rush – or anytime for people working locally or from home.
#9. Larchmont and Mamaroneck
Larchmont and Mamaroneck are neighboring communities with a prime waterfront location. A hotspot for active families and commuters, these towns have tons to offer – and they don’t skimp on the coffee options. While exploring Larchmont, grab coffee at Espresso Cafeto, right next door to the local Trader Joe’s. Harbour House Coffee Shop, e-shot cafe, Sunshine Coffee Roasters, and Bluestone Lane are also bustling during the morning and afternoon rush – and with good cause.
In Mamaroneck, The Roaster Cafe is a great option for a quick pick-me-up with a diverse menu of coffee options from the traditional to the more creative.
#10. Bronxville
Bronxville is home to lots of NYC commuters – so no surprise some of the best cafes in town are within walking distance of the Bronxville Metro-North train station. Located right at the station, BXVL Coffeehouse opens early on weekdays so it’s easy to snag a coffee before hopping on the train to the city. Other top spots include Slave To The Grind, a beloved neighborhood cafe, which has been a staple for nearly 30 years as well as Ovder, a charming family-owned specialty coffee shop which frequently hosts art and yoga classes

This roastery feels like it was transported straight from Brooklyn and offers an impressive menu of single-origin espresso drinks and fresh pastries. And if you need a pick-me-up midday? Check out Shea Station, J Cafe, or Pelville Coffee & Pastry.

On the coffee front, The Peekskill Coffee House – “Peekskill’s living room” – is a funky, welcoming cafe with local art and live music, perfect for a quick stopover or to come, relax, and take in the scene. The nearby Bean Runner Cafe is another favorite, serving brunch, coffee, and tea, with live music on the weekends.
#13. Mt. Kisco
If you take the train to Mt. Kisco, be sure to kick off your tour by swinging through Mimi’s Coffee House. Not only is it right near the train station, but their selection of coffees and smoothies is second to none. We also love ROAMFurther Coffee, a speakeasy-style cafe with specialty coffee and tea. This spot is tucked away in ROAMFurther Athletics – a hidden gem locals can’t get enough of.
#14. Katonah
Given Katonah’s thriving arts scene, the Katonah Reading Room – a bookstore-cafe combo – has long been the town’s essential coffee shop. While you’re here, snag some of their freshly baked pastries, soft-serve ice cream, coffee, or iced tea for a delicious recharge as you’re exploring this bustling community. Another option: LMNOP Bakery which is well-known for its sourdough and focaccia (and coffee!).
#15. Tarrytown
Tarrytown is the famed backdrop for The Legend of Sleepy Hollow. But this town is so much more than history and Halloween. Here, you’ll have access to RiverWalk, a summer farmers market, and, of course, local coffee shops.
Muddy Water is a Tarrytown favorite and was voted “Best New Coffee Shop” by Westchester Magazine. This hotspot serves fair-trade coffee and fresh-baked pie. Coffee Labs, a sustainably-focused coffee shop just a few blocks from Muddy Water, is another popular spot with locals.
