The Peters lived in New Jersey, but didn’t know suburbia—then they called Suburban Jungle.
Though they loved living in Jersey City, Scott and Angelina Peters knew it was time to ditch city living and set down roots in suburbia. With then one-year-old son Archie now in the mix, the Peters wanted to be somewhere with lots of open space, while still being in close proximity to the city—both Scott and Angelina are daily commuters.
That said, they didn’t know exactly where to start. The couple had moved from Boston seven years earlier, and hadn’t really explored the NYC suburbs during their time in Jersey City—so they got in touch with Suburban Jungle.
“Working with Suburban Jungle was great,” Scott says. “And we never found ourselves driving aimlessly from town to town, trying to figure out what life’s like in these places. Our Strategist Alli Levine worked with us and really took our needs and lifestyle into account and showed us places we didn’t even know existed.”
Suburban Jungle Strategist Alli Levine worked with the Peters to strategize a comprehensive town list that covered both New Jersey and Westchester.
“They really embraced the town-first approach and explored lots of suburbs in a six-month period,” Alli says. “They took town tours, they revisited towns to experience the communities and actively engaged in our strategy calls so I knew exactly what they liked and what they didn’t like after touring a town. That was so helpful and really enabled us to refine their search, together, and hone in on their vision for the right fit.”
Fast forward just a few months and the family of three is now one-month into life in Bloomfield. “We’re so happy here,” Scott says. “Though I am surprised by the number of trips I have to make to Home Depot.”
Transitioning to suburban life, he admits, has been much more seamless than the family even anticipated. Bloomfield has strong schools—which was important to the Peters—plus lots of outdoor activities and open space. They’re close to Brookdale Park and, for their daily commute, both Scott and Angelina can simply hop on a bus right around the corner and be in the city fast.
“I’d tell other families, ‘don’t be afraid to leave the city,’” Scott says. “We’re so happy we made the leap.”
