Living a bit further out from the North End doesn’t mean you have to sacrifice your excellent taste. In fact, the suburbs have some of the highest rated restaurants on Yelp and TripAdvisor in the entirety of greater Boston! Check out the best towns to live in for the foodies among us.
Newton
The ‘burbs are giving the city some healthy competition in the food department with restaurants like Buttonwood (American), Four Spoons Thai Inspired Cuisine, Comedor (Chilean/American), and the hottest new addition—6-week-old District 118 Kitchen and Bar (Comfort Food) in Newton, MA. Plus, the creative cocktails and new French/American dishes are delightful at the number one rated Newton eatery, Sycamore.

Hingham
True Bostonians cherish a lovely waterfront view with a good meal, and Hingham has the coastal town charm you’ve been craving. Alma Nove, founded by Executive Chef Paul Wahlberg, along with co-owners, celebrity brothers Mark and Donnie Wahlberg, is Hingham’s premier waterfront restaurant inspired by a blend of flavors from Italy and the surrounding Mediterranean. If that’s not quite your style, you can also get great seafood with a view from Stars On Hingham Harbor, or traditional Italian fare from sister restaurants Tosca and Caffe Tosca.
Wellesley
Wellesley is a food-lover’s dream with a diverse array of excellent options such as Juniper (Mediterranean), Bocado Tapas Wine Bar (Spanish), Alta Strada (Italian) and Cocobeet, a great go-to breakfast spot for organic juices, smoothies and Acai bowls. Smith & Wollensky also opened their first suburban location here last week. Eateries in Wellesley range from moderate to somewhat pricey, so you’re always sure to find authentic, tasty dishes in your preferred price range.
Burlington
Swanky steakhouses like L’Andana and The Bancroft are delectable luxuries for the foodies of Burlington, where surf and turf go hand in hand. And if you’re craving an eclectic menu, The Friendly Toast is no-brainer for your next brunch outing. (P.S. Authentic Mexican food aficionados will die for Besito Mexican Restaurant.)
