Halloween Fun in the Bay Area Suburbs

Looking for a spooktacular time this weekend? There’s no better place than the Bay Area suburbs. Have fun!

The Bay Area suburbs are the place to be this fall. With tons of family-friendly events and activities, you’ll have ample opportunity to get out and explore communities you could call “home.” Check out this list to get started. Menlo Park

Visit the Fall Fiesta at 1 Hacker Way—the Facebook campus—from 1pm-6pm on Saturday for Latin-inspired Halloween fun.

Los Altos

Watch a Halloween movie at Grant Park on Saturday evening. Casper’s Halloween Special will be showing at 7pm and The House with a Clock in its Walls will start at 7:45pm.

San Mateo

There’s a fall festival in San Mateo from 11am-2pm on Saturday. Come out to pick a pumpkin, bounce houses, live music, kid’s crafts and more.

Mill Valley

Go on a hike in Muir Woods from 5pm-8pm on Saturday to learn about the barred owl and northern spotted owl. Reservations are required and it includes a rigorous 5-mile walk, so plan ahead.

Corte Madera

Visit The Mountain School’s Apple Faire from 10am-1pm on Saturday to visit with the “Autumn Fairy” and enjoy a puppet show, games, crafts and other attractions. It’s ideal for ages 3-7.


There’s fun for all at the Highland Haunted Hotel & Carnival from 4pm-9pm on Saturday. There’s a parade, family-friendly haunted hotel, carnival games and more. Hotel tours are $5/person.


The Piedmont Avenue Pumpkin Patch is open 9am-8pm all month long. Stop by to select the perfect carving pumpkin and enjoy two haunted houses, including one that’s ideal for little kids.


Learn about and visit with creepy crawlers at the Crab Cove Visitor Center from 10:30am-12pm on Sunday. No registration is required.


The Danville FallFest is Saturday and Sunday from 10am-5pm in downtown Danville, opening with a children’s costume parade. There will be 150+ art vendors, local cuisine, a car show and live entertainment all day.
