Why This Red Hook Family Made the Leap to Weston
Psychologist Shari Goldstein and her tech entrepreneur husband Teddy exploredlotsof Westchester and Connecticut suburbs before settling on the right town for them and their boys, Levi age 6 and Zachary age 5. “The move was a few years in the making,” explains Shari. “We spent a lot of time researching and, with busy schedules and small kids, we could only visit towns every so often making the process a little slow.” At the same time, “we were not quite ready when we first started looking,” Shari now realizes. “By the time we made this move we were totally ready and it felt right.”
So what was it about Weston that made the Goldsteins pack up and leave Red Hook? Working with Suburban Jungle Strategist Patti Natiss, who recommended Weston based on the family’s wants, needs and lifestyle. “Suburban Jungle was invaluable for us in finding out town. Patti was incredibly patient and available, even when we told her we are going to waitanotheryear,” she adds. “Having an informed source to bounce ideas around with was crucial for me. There are so many towns and I can’t imagine trying to navigate all of them on our own. Patti streamlined the process, pointed us in the direction of towns that were most suitable, and listened to our likes and dislikes so we could make the best choice.”
Ultimately, the family found themselves more and more drawn to Weston. “Finding Weston helped us feel we were doing the right thing,” Shari says. “Many other towns did not seem quite right for us.” But Weston clicked. “It’s quite rural and very beautiful with great parks, a public pond and a land trust. It’s very family-oriented and very friendly.”
Now, less than a month into their suburban move, the Goldsteins can already tell they made the right decision. “Life is easier here!” Shari says. “Space is calming for us and the first day here felt like a huge relief.” And, hands down, Weston is the right fit for the family. “It is a smaller community, almost totally residential, with a great school system,” Shari says. “We love that K-12 school buildings are all on the same campus. There is a small town center which has the essentials — a great market, gas, bank, hardware, a restaurant. We’re happy to be here!”
