There’s never a shortage of things to do in the DC suburbs, especially when fall is in full swing. Bethesda, MD

More than 200 artists are coming to the Bethesda Row Arts Festival from 10am-6pm on Saturday and 10am-5pm on Sunday—and you don’t want to miss it. It’s free and a great opportunity to enjoy the town while having fun as a family.

Potomac, MD

This weekend is Potomac Day! The fun starts this Saturday at 10am, kicking off with a parade presented by KindWorks. After, stay for food, arts and crafts, games and plenty of things for everyone in the family.

Arlington, VA

Saint Ann School’s fall festival is Saturday from 10am-5pm. Kids will love rides, inflatables, face painting, a cake walk, games and a pumpkin patch, plus a chance to mix and mingle with your could-be neighbors.

Great Falls, VA

Enjoy the great outdoors with a trip to Great Fall Park. It’s an amazing opportunity to get to know the community while enjoying the fall foliage.

Alexandria, VA

Visit Alexandria’s waterfront for the free Portside in Old Town Fall Festival on Saturday from 1pm-7pm The event features nautical demos, live music and hands-on activities for kids.

Takoma Park, MD

Meet other parents and enjoy a cup of coffee during Takoma Park Cooperative Nursery School’s mapping event from 10am-11:30am on Saturday. It’s free and utilizes a variety of mapping techniques to help kids learn about the world.

Kensington, MD

Celebrate the opening of Newport Mill Park’s new playground from 11am-1pm on Saturday. It includes a picnic and, of course, plenty of time to play on the equipment. Families are invited to bring a shareable dish for a casual potluck.

Silver Spring, MD

Silver Branch Brewing’s Oktoberfest is Friday through Saturday from 12pm-11pm. There will be German costume contests, kids activities and plenty of local and imported beers.

Fairfax, VA

Usher in fall during Fairfax’s Fall Festival on Saturday. The event features 400+ arts and crafts vendors, food trucks, three stages of entertainment and kids attractions. The event runs all day from 10am-8:30pm.

Vienna, VA

No school or work on Columbus Day? Head to Jammin Java for a kids concert featuring Rocknoceros at 10am. Admission is $5.
