Suburban Jungle’s NYC Strategists share what they love most about their towns

Summer in the NYC Suburbs: There’s something special about the suburb you choose — something that makes you want to call it “home.” For our New York City Strategists, summertime activities, amenities, and access were part of what drew them to their communities. Here’s what your Strategists are up to this summer, and why they love living in their towns, especially when the warm weather hits.

Allison Levine
North Caldwell, NJ

“There are so many great local places to walk our dog Brody. One of his favorites is the reservoir at South Mountain Reservation. We also love heading to Montclair to grab a bite outside — they have incredible restaurants with tons of outdoor dining options. For foodies like us, it’s the perfect place.”

Maya Konig

Westport, CT

“We love heading to Old Mill Beach in the early evening. It’s low tide, the sunset is amazing, and it’s the perfect place to settle in with a picnic dinner or dessert. Another favorite summertime activity: bonfires at Compo Beach. It feels so summery and is great for the kids and adults.”

Robin Hoberman

Rye Brook, NY
“I love all of the outdoor dining options in Rye Brook, as well as in our neighboring towns. We’re also so close to Rye Beach — we spend a lot of time there in the summer! Our dog Rocky especially loves it — he can run off-leash in the early mornings.”

Jen Schulte

Dobbs Ferry, NY
The Waterfront Park is incredible in the summer. We love to head there for the amazing views of the Hudson River and Palisades. Plus, when it gets warmer, the park hosts community events and concerts. Their Wednesday jazz nights are a favorite in our family — grab a picnic, take in the gorgeous views, enjoy the music, and let the kids ride their scooters on the walking path or to the playground. It’s perfect.”

Erika Ades

Port Washington, NY

“We like to kayak and paddleboard on Manhasset Bay or spend the day with friends and family at the town pool and waterpark. Port Washington also hosts free concerts in the summer — we’ll grab a picnic or ice cream at the wharf and head over.”

Eleanor Johnson

Larchmont, NY
“You’ll usually find us at the beach or splash pad in Mamaroneck. My kids love it and it’s an easy, fun way to cool off when it’s hot out.”
