Suburban Jungle Strategists Share The Towns They’re Smitten With

Feb 14, 2023

In honor of Valentine’s Day, we’re digging into our team’s true loves…

Our goal? To help you find a community you love – and with more than 500 commutable towns outside of NYC, there are lots to choose from.

So what towns have stolen our Strategists’ hearts? From the suburbs they call “home” to neighboring communities they can’t get enough of, here’s where our New York Strategists love to spend time – Valentine’s Day and everyday.

Robin Hoberman, Director of Talent Acquisition & NYC Strategist
She’s smitten with Rye Brook, NY

“Rye Brook is the town I chose to call home and I adore it for so many reasons. For one, Rye Brook is extremely walkable – my girls walk to school and their friends’ homes, and I know they’ll be safe, every step. Two, the shopping and restaurant scene is amazing at Rye Ridge Plaza, our downtown area. And when the weather gets warmer, we often check out local concerts held at Crawford Park and Pine Ridge Park. Plus, you really can’t beat the location. Rye Brook is easily accessible to the city and other neighboring towns like Armonk, Rye, and Greenwich.”

Eleanor Johnson, NYC Strategist
She’s smitten with Tarrytown, Larchmont, Ridgewood, NJ, and Ridgefield, CT

“I couldn’t pick just one town. Four suburbs really speak to me. First, Tarrytown, New York, for its breathtaking views of the Hudson River, wonderful restaurants and access to the scenic Hudson RiverWalk. Then there’s Ridgewood in New Jersey, which has a fabulous restaurant scene and the famous Graydon Pool, a family-favorite hot spot during the summer. That’s not to be confused with Ridgefield, Connecticut. I love Ridgefield’s historic vibe, quaint downtown, and fabulous arts and culture offerings. And, of course, I love Larchmont, my hometown, for its walkability, friendly community and gorgeous waterfront.”

Allison Levine, Director of Communications and NYC Strategist
She’s smitten with Montclair, New Jersey

“What I love most about Montclair is that there are endless options. With tons of amazing restaurants, shops and neighborhoods to visit and enjoy, Montclair never disappoints. When I left NYC, I worried about missing my treasured walks – that vibrant energy you get while strolling through the city. Montclair has that same energy! A perfect day could be a stop in at one of my favorite coffee shops or juice bars, trails in the parks, shopping, then lunch or dinner – and, of course, enjoying the sound of music from performers as I pass by. Best of all, I can bring my pup Brody along for all of it since Montclair is so dog friendly.”

Melissa Schneider, Head Florida Strategist (and former New Yorker)
She’s smitten with Huntington – and Boca Raton!

Although I am a full fledged Floridian now, New York will always have a special place in my heart! One town that always makes me happy is Huntington, on Long Island. Main Street, filled with mom and pop shops and incredible eateries and bars, made me think of my beloved Brooklyn life that we left behind for the suburbs. All of this, PLUS there are beaches – always top of my list in any town – boat watching and a good show at the Paramount theater.

And if you’re considering making the leap to Florida? Then check out another favorite town: Boca Raton. It’s a charming city with a small town feel. In addition to the beautiful pristine beaches, there are walkable downtown areas, arts and culture (including three colleges!) and if you’re a nature/ outdoors lover who wants to lead an active lifestyle, there are so many spots to explore – the city has 47 parks! You’re also close to bigger cities like Miami, Fort Lauderdale and West Palm Beach.”
