There’s nothing like summer in the Boston suburbs. Here you can get it all, from beaches and boating to concerts and carousels.

It’s hard to believe it’s August. Before back-to-school (and back to LIFE…), get out and start exploring the Boston suburbs — these family-friendly events and activities are a perfect way to do just that.

Weston

Visit Land’s Sake Farm on Saturday from 11am-1pm to interact with animals and learn about farming during its free open farmyard event. There’s something for children of all ages.

Needham

The Needham Farmers Market is 12pm-4pm on Sunday. Visit the Needham Town Common for local produce, live music and artisanal crafts.

Natick

The Natick Farmers Market is Thursday at the Natick Common from 9am-1pm.

Medfield

Explore the great outdoors at the Rocky Woods Reservation in Medfield. Trustees Trekkers Family Hikes is hosting a walk geared toward kids of all ages on Sunday from 11am-12pm.

Milton

Learn about dragonflies and damselflies through crafts, stories and other child-geared activities at the Blue Hills Trailside Museum on Saturday at 10:30am.

Brookline

The Caribbean Boston Food Festival is at 1pm on Sunday at the Reggie Lewis Track and Athletic Center. Come out for live music, cultural performances and tons of amazing food.

Dedham

Explore crafts created by kids, including unique beads and pieces your littles will love, at the Dedham Public Library from 10am-12pm on Saturday.

Ashland

The Ashland Farmers Market is Saturday from 9am-1pm in downtown Ashland. This week is dog week, so be sure to bring your pooch.

Hingham

Hingham’s Police 1st Night Out is Sunday at 5:30pm. The festivities include a K-9 demo, tours, police vehicles, fingerprinting, pizza and ice cream.

Arlington

Saturday is Fido Fest at Spy Pond Field. It starts at 7pm and includes hilarious dog video submissions, contests, free popcorn and activities for kids.
