Visit the Katherine Legge Memorial Park for pumpkin decorating from 11am-1pm on Saturday. Admission is $7 for non-members.
Winnetka
Learn how to build outdoor forts at Lloyd Park from 11am-4pm on Saturday and Sunday. The event is free, and families are invited to drop in at any time.
Barrington
Barrington is hosting Oaktober Fest, a festival dedicated to the area’s beautiful oak trees and foliage, from 12pm-3pm on Sunday. There will be live music and a bonfire.
Lake Forest
Kids will love learning about reptiles during CROCtoberfest at the Wildlife Discovery Center from 10am-4pm on Sunday. This week’s theme is the American Alligator.
Naperville
Naper Settlement’s Oktoberfest is Friday and Saturday from 4pm-10pm and 12pm-10pm. There will be live music all day, professional pumpkin carving, competitions and other festivities. Adults are $15; kids 4-12 are $10.
Wilmette
Go on a family-friendly guided tree walk in Gillson Park on Sunday from 2pm-3pm. It’s free and you’ll learn how to identify and protect local plants.
Glencoe
Celebrate fall during Henry J. Kalk Park’s Harvest Fest from 10am-1pm on Saturday. You can purchase Halloween pumpkins and make scarecrows while enjoying live music and games.
Highland Park
The Heller Nature Center is hosting “Nature Playdates” from 10am-11:30am on Saturday. Participants can drop-in at any time, and will enjoy a self-guided hikes, nature lessons and making new friends.
Glen Ellyn
Play glow-in-the-dark mini golf at Holes & Knolls from 8pm-11pm on Friday. The Glen Ellyn Park District will turn off all its lights and you’ll play with glowing golf balls. Admission is $8 per person per game.
